Apple Attacks Competitors With Flawed Videos

26 Jul

Apple is in extreme denial mode at the moment. The company has gone overboard to show that other (hand-picked) phones also display drop in signal when held abnormally.

There is no doubt iPhone 4 has serious antenna problems (everyone admits but Apple). By giving free cases Apple has in a way admitted the problem but they also tried to kill several birds with one stone.

It  made WallStreet happy, it tried to satisfy Consumer Report, it tried to discourage lawsuits and it also addressed the media queries with 'at least' something.

But the game is far from over. Apple has now started posting vidoes demonstrating signal drop in competitors' phones. Why is Apple doing this now? Here is a hypothetical explanation.

When All Things Digital asked Charles Gilman, one of the attorneys who filed lawsuit related to antenna issues, he replied,  “I am not aware of other smart phones that suffer from the same problem. Certainly previous iPhones did not suffer from this problem.”

Apple videos are attacking the statement which is the soft target. “I am not aware of other smart phones that suffer from the same problem.”

If you look at Apple ads you will notice major flaws in these ads. 1) The Ads shows Apple 'models' (not ordinary people) holding competitors phones in a 'manner' which affects the signals. 2) The abnormally held phones only show drop in signal, it doesn't prove a dropped call.

If competitor phone do have issues, these reports must have started a surge of non-Apple customers complaining similar issues. But there are 'no' mass reports of call drops from the phones Apple selected for these videos.

Yes, signals can be affected by external factor but this is 'not' a challenge for the industry, as Apple claimed. The industry knows about it and designs phones to accommodate regular usage.

Look at the Apple's videos and then compare it with the way you hold your phone to make a call. No one holds a phone the way Apple ads show, except for Apple employees trained to hold competitors phones in that manner just to show some signal drop.

I took some liberty and looked for images of celebrities using phones, none of these images show people holding their phones the way Apple shows. Google images of people talking over mobile phones, do you see any difference? If possible post them here.

Everything boils down to one point. What is apple trying to prove?
