Kubuntu Lucid Lynx: Treat For KDE Fans

Canonical is still fixing the parts of the next major version of Kubuntu: Lucid Lynx. This one is LTS version, which means Long Term Support, so a lot of features are expected given that Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard were recently launched.

I am a Gnome fan, but this Kubuntu shakes my loyality towards Gnome. I am not to be blamed if Kubuntu seduces me and I leave behind the simplicity that Gnome offers and take a dive into the world of Apple Mac killing KDE 4.

Have a look at my Kubuntu Lucid Lynx. We downloaded a daily build from here (these are unstable builds, test at your own risk) and then created a USB Starter Disk on my Canon camera's memory stick. The OS ran from a Canon camera's memory stick. It took mere 30 seconds to boot the entire system on my machine. Quite fast for a Live KDE boot.

Looking at this performance of Lucid  Lynx, one can say with full confidence Windows is no more in  in competition, now the fight is between Mac and Ubuntu.

Network manager (a bit tricky as compared to Gnome)

Open Office 3.2

My boot device, Live USB Drive. The entire OS was running from this Flash drive.

What is your vote? Gnome or KDE?
