Will Apple Launch The iSlate In January?
iSlate makes more sense than iTablet. But Apple's delay in the tablet segment keeps people wondering about the resources Apple has to handle so many products. Some bloggers have started calling iSlate as "Is Late".
According to media reports, the Apple Tablet, re-branded as iSlate might make a debut in the month of January at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on January 26, 2010. The rumors are that the device will have a 10.1-inch multi-touch. Apple developers reportedly received instructions from Apple to prepare their iPhone apps for a larger screen.
Apple is known for keeping things under wraps till the last moment. What is unknown is the market positioning of the iSlate. Will it be placed against e-book readers or will it be marketed as a Tablet or a Netbook? Going by Apple's track record, the company is known for changing the rules of the game, leaving behind competitors panting.
Apple changed the rules of the music players industry with its iPod; then re-wrote the rules of the online music industry with its iTunes. Apple also played a major role in eliminating DRM from iTunes music. The company changed the telecom industry rules via its iPhone and now iSlate is about to be launched.
Will it reshape the 'slow' world of Netbooks? Will it make Tables popular or will it combine the three and create a new segment leaving competitors do nothing but struggle to find an iSlate Killer?
