Will Google Lose The Nexus?

What's in the name? Cliche? Ok. Do you remember when Apple was stuck in a embarrassing situation with its iPhone trademark? The trademark was owned by Linksys and Apple was adamant to go ahead with the name. Linksys filed a complaint and the two companies went for an out of the court settlement for the usage of the name.

Same happened with Apple's iPhone in China and the company worked behind the curtains to take control of the Chinese iPhone. Now its turn of Apple's earlier friend and now arch rival Google. According to reports Google doesn't own the trademark on its hyped and popular Linux (Android) based phone The Nexus One. The trademark is owned by a telecommunications company called Integra Telecom, reported the Wall Street Journal.

According to reports the US Patent and Trademark office has rejected Google's application for the ownership of the trademark.

There are also fleeting rumors that the daughter of late science fiction author, Philip K Dick (Minority Report fame) has complained that the usage of of name Nexus and Droid violatesher father's intellectual property as he coined these names in his stories.

How is Google going to solve these 'intellectually' loaded problems, only time will tell.
